Vasco is filing a million-dollar lawsuit against Ramón Díaz and with a peculiar name behind it: Juan de Dios Crespo, Lionel Messi’s lawyer.
But the person who started it all was Ramón Díaz, when he sued the Rio club claiming that there was no justification for his dismissal, after helping to keep the team in Série A of the Brasileirão last year.

Why is Vasco suing Ramón Díaz?
After the action filed by the Corinthians coach, Vasco filed what is called a “counterclaim”. That is, the response of a defendant in a legal case who presents a new demand against the plaintiff, in the same case.
Ramón had asked for R$30 million, and now Vasco is charging the same amount. In addition to charging the coach, the amount also involves Emiliano, assistant and son of the current Corinthians coach.
According to information from “GE”, testimonies from players and employees who were present during the dismissal will be used as evidence.
The version presented is different from that of Ramón and Emiliano, who claimed to have been fired and only found out about it through the social network Twitter.
In turn, Vasco maintains that the two’s statement was intended to pressure the club into paying the fine. Juan de Dios Crespo, lawyer for Messi and other big names in football, is behind Vasco in the action.
This Sunday (11/24), Ramón meets his former team, this time with Corinthians.
Corinthians and Vasco face each other this Sunday (24/11), at 4pm (Brasília time), for the 35th round of the Brazilian Championship. The match will be at Neo Química Arena, Timão’s home in São Paulo.
