Portugal almost won the children’s edition for the first time. Edition is marked by Georgia and… San Marino.
A Georgia returned to win o Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Andria Putkaradze sang a song dedicated to mothers – – and got 239 points.
It was the Georgia’s fourth victory at this event. Now is the country with the most triumphs in the 22 editions of Junior Eurovision.
Portugal almost won the children’s edition, for the first time. I was ahead in the last seconds of voting by to win (from afar) in public vote.
Portugal achieved 117 points from the public, the only country to exceed 100 points in the viewers’ vote. Ukraine ranked 81, in second place in this chapter.
But the 4th place in the score of juries and the 213 points in total they were not enough for Portugal to overcome Georgia – which won (also by far) in the juries, with 180 points, ahead of Ukraine’s 122 points in that context.
The vast majority of national juries gave Georgia 12 points, and that made the difference.
In those last emotional moments, the Spanish public present at Caja Mágica, in Madrid, still shouted “Portugal! Portugal!”. But it didn’t.
It was the best place ever but, between us, and now recovering from all the performances, if Portugal had won, the trophy would have been very well awarded.
Victoria Nicole took him to Madrid. He played on the piano, had a powerful melody and an incredible voice. One top performanceno global.
More: the song Esperança was created by the 14 year old girl herself. Mentored by Nininho Vaz Maia and Bárbara Tinoco, but it is her creation. It was the only song created solely by the artist in this edition.
And San Marino?
San Marino also marked this Junior Eurovision Song Contest. But it would have been better not to have scored.
The female group, composed of Guilia, Vera, Giorgia and Asia, sang Come Noi.
And it didn’t go well:
The best part was right at the beginning. In the first few seconds they were all turned away. Aligned, synchronized – but that was the only time that happened during the song.
As soon as the first two girls turned to face the audience, confusion began: each one dancing in their own moment, the entry into the verse was not synchronized, one looking to the side to see how it was done, a forced smile, obvious nervousness with hands shaking…
And the music… What song?
17 national juries awarded points to the songs. All the juries together gave… 1 point to San Marino.
In total, and thanks to 46 points (??) from the public, it achieved 47 points, but it was placed in the last place.
No wonder. It must have been the worst performance ever at Eurovision.
