FC Porto, winner of the last three editions of the Portuguese Cup in football, was eliminated, this Sunday, from the round of 16 of the competition, after losing 2-1 at Moreirense – adding their third consecutive defeat.
At the Comendador Joaquim de Almeida Freitas Stadium, in Moreira de Cónegos, the Brazilian winger Pepê opened the scoring and put the “dragons” ahead in the 35th minute.
But, even before the break, the Moreirense equalized with a goal from Luís Asuéat 41 minutes.
In the fourth round match, the team led by Cesar Peixoto took the lead in the 77th minute, with a big penaltypunishing Francisco Moura’s hand, converted by Alanzinho.

Dragon in crisis
FC Porto thus recorded their third consecutive defeattwo weeks after being beaten by Benfica, in Luz, 4-1, in the I League, and losing in Italy to Lazio (2-1), in the Europa League.
In the round of 16 of the Portuguese Cup, Moreirense will face Gil Vicente, also from the I League, who today prevailed 2-0 against Vila Real, from the fourth tier.
This weekend, FC Porto also saw their rivals advance to the next stage of the premier competition, after two home defeats.
On Friday, the Sporting won 6-0 to Amarante; already the Benfica “gave” 7 to 0 to Estrela da Amadora, this Saturday.
It should be remembered that the FC Porto won the last three editions.
