In autumn and winter, you should take even more care of plants in pots. Their condition may worsen due to limited access to sunlight. Homemade fertilizer comes to the rescue. You will need avocado peels.
Shorter days, bad weather and dry air in the apartment can contribute to poorer plant growth. During autumn and winter, flowers are more susceptible to diseases and pests. You need to support them with a fertilizer that will supply them with the necessary components, such as iron and zinc. Banana fertilizer is the most popular, but even more effective is fertilizer made from avocado peels.
How to make avocado fertilizer? You only need two ingredients
Natural avocado nutrition strengthens the roots and improves the overall condition of the plants. It contains potassium and phosphorus (similar to banana peel fertilizer), thanks to which the flowers better tolerate the heating season, resist diseases and continue to thrive. The stems and leaves are healthier and acquire an intense green color.
The mixture of avocado peels can be used on orchids, ficuses, scapulas and anthuriums. Here are the quick preparation instructions:
- Peel two avocados,
- put the peels in a container,
- pour 1.5 l of water into it,
- close the container and leave it for 3 days in a shady place,
- after this time, drain the liquid and water the plants.
How to make fertilizer from avocado seeds? Not only the peels have a beneficial effect
Flowers can be fertilized every 2-3 weeks, preferably on slightly moistened soil. Such nutrition is ecological, cheap and, above all, has a beneficial effect on plants. The peel trick is not the only way to use avocado. You can also grate a stone from one fruit, cover it with a liter of water and put it in a blender. After mixing, strain the fertilizer and water your plants with it once a month. The seeds are just as useful as the skins. They contain nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, boron and many other vitamins.
