The Civil Police of Amazonas (PC-AM) arrested four people suspected of lynching a man to death, who was accused of rape, in the city of JutaĂ, located in the interior of the state. The arrests took place on Thursday (21).
According to police, among the suspects is the mother of the child who was a victim of sexual abuse. In addition to the mother, three men aged 32, 25 and 23 were also arrested. The quartet will be charged with qualified homicide, vilification of a corpse, qualified damage, incitement to commit a crime and qualified resistance. They are already available to the courts.
The dead man, who was 48 years old, was arrested on suspicion of raping and murdering a 1-year-old child. The lynching took place in September this year, when he was forcibly removed from the police station by residents, attacked and burned while still alive.
According to delegate Mariane Menezes, from the 56th Interactive Police Station (DIP) of JutaĂ, investigations related to the crime of rape of a vulnerable person began after the alleged disappearance of the child, according to her mother’s report. She stated that the child was last seen on September 17, while sleeping on a floating boat in the port of JutaĂ.
âImmediately, the police team from the 56th DIP carried out investigations, collected statements and analyzed images from security cameras, which made it possible to clarify, in less than 24 hours, that the child had been a victim of rape and homicide, by the perpetrator. On September 18th of this year, upon learning that he was being investigated, he spontaneously presented himself to the police station and confessed to the crimesâ, explained the delegate.
