Here we go again for a ride! Next Saturday, October 12, the new edition of the Star Academy will make its comeback on TF1. After a successful year in 2023, the flagship show which was the heyday of TF1 in the 2000s was able to find its audience again thanks to emblematic candidates like Lénie, Héléna, Djebril, Julien and Axel. Iconic personalities who have seduced millions of viewers, happy to return to this 11th season after years of absence.
For this highly anticipated 12th edition, TF1 organized an exceptional press conference this Wednesday, September 25. The opportunity for the channel’s managers to announce the new features for the next season but also to talk more about the casting, the teachers, the tests that will await the candidates… In short, everything there is to know about Star Academy 2024. Here we go!
A first candidate already announced
During this press conference organized in the TF1 premises, a young woman was surprised to be confirmed live in front of the journalists present on site. If her identity must remain anonymous for the moment, the young woman was not aware that she was included in the new season before arriving at the front page offices. The organizers of the event allegedly told her to come for a photo shoot before she finally discovered the deception! Delighted, the young girl will be present on October 12 during the prime.
What’s new with the casting?
This season will see candidates from all walks of life arrive. Belgium, France and even… Switzerland. A great first. If we already know the identity of one of the candidates, we know that the rest of the cast will be between 18 and 24 years old. Jean-Louis Blot, boss of Endemol, announced that he wanted a casting with “strong people” and “different” from the previous year. We also learn that they saw hundreds of candidates and finally went towards strong personalities who sometimes left everything to try the adventure.
What changes this year for candidates
This year, Michaël Goldman and the faculty have set the bar even higher. If, like past seasons, the evaluations will take place on Tuesdays, the teachers and the director will have to, at the end of this test, establish a ranking of the students. If the three least good will be named and risk elimination, the three best will have an additional challenge to take up, with immunity at stake. During the prime following the evaluations, this trio will face each other in a battle. The faculty will then have the difficult task of choosing a winner. The latter cannot be named the following week. He will still have to submit to evaluations to try to remain among the best, in the hope of once again being immune.
The announcement of this ranking will be made on Thursday. The day before, the names of the three candidates in danger will be revealed. At the end of the adventure, which will end in January, there will only be two left hoping to succeed Pierre Garnier in the grand final.
On the set, what will change?
On set 217 where the Star Academy bonuses are held each week, it was announced during the press conference that the set would be more square, and closer to the public. As the chain’s managers point out, it will be more “spectacular”.
At the castle, new developments
At the castle, nothing moves. Or almost. Indeed, as was clarified during the press conference on Wednesday, September 25, the singing class room will be moved to the theater class room. In addition, candidates will have a new home to practice singing or simply relax.
Stars will come to play teachers
For this new season, several artists will come and play teachers during the daily shows. Among them, Julien Doré and Lara Fabian have already been announced by the production. They will help the students in their performance, accompany them during the week’s bonus and even participate in the debrief.
Big news during the bonuses
Each week, a challenge will be proposed to the students by Michael Goldman and the teachers. The teacher will change every week. This is the big news! This challenge could be centered around dance, theater or singing.
A season tribute to Grégory Lemarchal
On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of Grégory Lemarchal’s victory, very moved, announced during the press conference that this year’s candidates will record a new song by the deceased singer. All profits generated by the sales of this piece will of course be donated to the Grégory Lemarchal association.
Is a tour already planned?
As confirmed by the managers of TF1, a tour is planned for the rest of this new edition. No date has yet been specified for the start of these shows.
The first candidate revealed
TF1 viewers had a nice surprise on October 2, 2024. At the end of the 1 p.m. news, Marie-Sophie Lacarrau revealed the whole thing. This Saturday, November 2, a new student left the castle. Unlike other weeks, 4 candidates were in the hot seat since they were evaluations in pairs: Marine, Maïa, Ulysse and Thomas found themselves in danger. Marine and Ulysse were saved by the public, the students of the promotion therefore had to decide between Maïa and Thomas and it was Thomas who, with only two votes for him, had to tell all the other students.

Friday November 15, for the second time that the prime took place on a Friday and not a Saturday,. Indeed, while Charles was saved by the public, the students decided to save Masséo. Or rather Charles, because it was he who had to decide, given that there was a perfect tie (4 votes to 4) between Emma and Masséo.
Saturday, November 23, it was Masseo who was eliminated while Ulysses was saved by the public. “I really feel like I’ve grown both personally and as an artist. It’s already crazy to have stayed so long in the adventure (…) It’s a huge opportunity to do this program, I never thought I would do it so young”said Masseo with a smile.
