The world’s first battery with 100% silicon anode will be manufactured from 2027 and will offer future electric vehicles, among other advantages, a range of 300 kilometers (km), in just five minutes of charging.
a manufacturer of ceramic batteries, recently presented a new battery concept silicon batteries.
The innovative battery allows charging from 5% to 60% of capacity in just five minutes, providing electric vehicles (EVs) with a range of 300 km in five minutes.
According to a company statement in October, the silicon composite anode battery exhibits a higher energy density to existing ones, both in weight (321 Wh/kg) and volume (749 Wh/L).
The new battery Outperforms lithium-ion and lithium iron phosphate batterieswhich generally have a density of up to 300 Wh/kg.
This performance also significantly reduces charging timewhen compared to the average of 30 minutes needed to achieve the same autonomy in traditional models.
As highlighted by , high energy density – both in terms of volume and weight – allows EV manufacturers to create vehicles with smaller battery packs without sacrificing power, optimizing internal space that is normally lost to accommodate larger batteries.
Alternatively, manufacturers can maintain battery sizebut significantly increase power and autonomyespecially benefiting sub-compact cars.
The ProLogium battery also has a modular design, which means that the technical assistance, maintenance and repair are much easier. Damage to individual cells or small groups does not require complete replacement of the battery pack, reducing costs.
Since its founding in 2006, ProLogium has been dedicated to supplying EV components and producing solid-state battery sample cells.
In collaboration with Germany’s FEV Group, the company plans to begin mass production of these batteries in 2027.
