International Relations expert, Sidney Leite, stated that the president-elect of the United States, Donald Trump, does not have a clear strategy to end ongoing global conflicts, such as the conflict involving Israel and Hamas and the War in Ukraine.

Leite highlights that the Republican politician will deal with a more complex scenario than that seen in his first term. This would be caused, precisely, by geopolitical instability.

According to the expert, Trump’s first administration was marked by a contemporary approach, far from the traditional strategy model based on long-term planning and well-defined goals.

“Trump’s first administration, and I think this will not undergo major changes, will be very much a strategy close to tactics”, explained Leite.

He points out that Trump does not have a defined strategy to deal with current conflicts. For the expert, the Republican’s decisions will be made based on “day-to-day tactical action.”

Leite says he thinks it is likely that the elected American president will “remodel his strategy in the face of scenarios that are becoming more accentuated at a time that is much more conflictive than during his first administration”.

Trump Cabinet

Donald Trump announced, this Friday (22), several names for his cabinet and other administrative positions. The main one was

Bessent, 62, advised Trump on economic policy on the campaign trail and is the founder of hedge fund Key Square Capital Management.

The position of Treasury Secretary is seen as the main finance position in any administration and has become a trophy position for many Wall Street donors.

If confirmed by the Senate, Bessent’s first days in office could be even more challenging than usual, as he will face pressure to address the federal debt limit and Trump’s campaign promises.

Check out the names below:

  • Russell Vought for the White House Office of Management and Budget. Vought was one of the main authors of Project 2025, the controversial conservative policy project, and was Trump’s budget director during his first administration.

  • Dr. Janette Nesheiwat as National Medical Authority. The position is known as “surgeon general” in the United States.

  • Sebastian Gorka as senior director of counterterrorism. “Dr. Gorka is a legal immigrant to the United States with over 30 years of experience in National Security,” Trump said.
  • Dr. Dave Weldon to lead US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The CDC falls under the Health and Human Services umbrella, for which Trump chose Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
