The Attorney General of the Republic, Paulo Gonet, must receive an extensive report from the with more than 800 pages, this week. The document investigates the alleged coup attempt that led to the indictment of the former president and 36 other people. The allegations, if they occur, are scheduled for 2025.
The Strategic Group to Combat Anti-Democratic Acts (GACC), formed by nine prosecutors, will be responsible for analyzing the PF report. He had commented that Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid’s complaint to the PF, in November last year, was just a narrative and that deeper investigations would be necessary to validate the allegations. The STF minister, Alexandre de Moraes, decided to maintain the validity of Cid’s plea, which could impact ongoing investigations. In addition to investigations, the GACC has dedicated itself to signing non-criminal prosecution agreements, which allow defendants to serve alternative sentences. To date, 476 individuals who were detained following the events of January 8 have signed these agreements.
