At least one person lost their life.
A DHL cargo plane crashed into a residential building near the international airport in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius on Monday. At least one person lost his life, another was injured. This was reported by the spokesperson of the rescue service for the Lithuanian public radio, writes TASR on the basis of the DPA agency.
The plane was headed to Lithuania from Leipzig, Germany. According to the statements of the spokesmen of the airport and the police to the Reuters agency, the accident occurred around 4:30 a.m. CET.
An airport spokesman told Lithuanian Radio that the plane crashed into a two-story residential building, with two pilots and two employees of the transport company on board, according to preliminary reports, Tass news agency reported.
One of the pilots reportedly survived the crash. It is not clear if there were people in the building that was hit.
