The external committee of the Chamber of Deputies that monitors the investigations into the accident with the Voepass plane will hold another public hearing on Tuesday (26). This time, to hear representatives from the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac), Latam, the Public Defender’s Office and the government.
The debate responds to the request of the collegiate coordinator, deputy Bruno Ganem (Podemos-SP); of the rapporteur, deputy Padovani (União-PR); and the deputy Pedro Aihara (PRD-MG).
The hearing will be held from 3 pm, in plenary 3.

Pedro Aihara recalls that Anac plays a crucial role in supervising the maintenance conditions of aircraft operating in the country and in evaluating and managing incidents related to flight safety.
“Anac’s collaboration in this process is vital to ensure that all possible faults are identified and corrected, guaranteeing passenger safety and preventing future tragedies,” stated the deputy.
Ganem, in turn, explains that it is essential to also listen to the General Public Defender of the State of São Paulo to ensure that the rights of victims and their families are fully respected and protected.

Latam was invited because it has a “shared code” agreement with Voepass, which allows, for example, sharing flights. Ganem and Padovani state, however, that there is doubt about a series of aspects that concern this relationship between the two companies.
Remember the tragedy
On August 9, the company’s aircraft that departed from Cascavel (PR) bound for São Paulo (SP) crashed in Vinhedo (SP), killing 62 people.
At the end of August, the Chamber of Deputies created an external commission to monitor the investigations.

One of the hypotheses investigated by the Aeronautical Accident Investigation and Prevention Center (Cenipa), of the Air Force Command, is the accumulation of ice on parts of the plane.
In September, the head of Cenipa, Air Brigadier Marcelo Moreno, presented the agency’s preliminary report on the plane crash. The document shows that there was no declaration of emergency by the crew before the crash and that the aircraft’s deicing system was activated three times during the flight.
In October, the president of Voepass, José Luis Felício Filho, told the commission that the aircraft had undergone maintenance the night before and was fully operational. He also ensured that pilots were trained to deal with adverse conditions, including ice.

Earlier this month, Labor Attorney Luana Lima Duarte Vieira Leal told deputies that the company has a “robust history” of disrespecting labor rights.
Last week, former Voepass employees assured that the company complied with all safety procedures on the aircraft.
