A DHL cargo plane took off on Monday crashed into a residential building near the international airport in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius. At least one person lost their life and another was injured, a spokesman for the rescue service told Lithuanian Public Radio. This was reported by the DPA agency, writes TASR.
The plane was headed to Lithuania from Leipzig, Germany. According to the statements of the spokesmen of the airport and the police to the Reuters agency, the accident occurred around 4:30 a.m. CET.
A spokesman for the airport told Lithuanian Radio that the plane crashed into a two-story residential building, with two pilots and two airline employees on board, according to preliminary reportsthe Tass agency reported. One of the pilots reportedly survived the crash. It is not clear if there were people in the building that was hit.
