Series B of the Brazilian Championship ended this Sunday (24). Mirassol, Sport and Ceará secured places in Série A in the last round — only Santos, champion of the tournament, already had their place secured.
Sport reached the final game of the tournament in fifth and, in addition to beating Santos on Ilha do Retiro, they needed to support Novorizontino, Ceará or Mirassol. The Pernambuco team beat Santos 2-1, and Novorizontino lost 1-0 to Goiás, away from home.
Ceará drew 0-0 with relegated Guarani in Campinas, and Mirassol beat Chapecoense 1-0 at home. Both teams also guaranteed their access.
Champion, Santos finished the tournament with 68 points, followed by Mirassol (67), Sport (66) and Ceará (64). Novorizontino had the same score as Ceará, but fewer victories, and therefore came in fifth.
At the other end of the table, Ponte Preta, Ituano, Brusque and Guarani fell — the four teams had already been relegated before the last round.
