Expect wind in western and northern Slovakia on Monday night. The Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute (SHMÚ) issued warnings against wind and wind in the mountains. SHMÚ informs about it on its website.
According to the constitution, warnings of the first degree against the wind apply in almost the entire Trnava region, in most districts of the Nitra region, in some districts of the Trenčianske region and in the Malacky district. SHMÚ expects occasional winds with gusts of 65 to 70 kilometers per hour. “This speed represents a potential danger for human activities. The expected wind speed is common for the given time of year and area, but it can cause damage of a smaller scale,” SHMÚ said.
Warnings of the first level against wind in the mountains apply in almost the entire Žilina region, in some districts of the Banskobystrické region and in the Poprad district. “At locations above approximately 1,500 meters, the occurrence of wind is expected in some places, which will reach a short-term (in gusts) speed of 30 – 37 meters per second (110 – 135 kilometers per hour) and/or an average speed of 20 – 24 meters per second (70 – 85 kilometers per hour), that’s a whirlwind,” said the Institute for Warnings in the Poprad district.
