President-elect actually defeated Kamala Harris in the popular vote, but it was one of the smallest margins since… the 19th century.
Donald Trump accumulated lies, allegations without any evidence, throughout the campaign electoral.
Probably the most popular one occurred in the one with Kamala Harris, when she said that there are immigrants who “eat dogs and cats. They eat the pets of the people who live there” – was promptly denied by the debate moderators, who reinforced that there is no proof of this.
A week before the presidential elections, in just one speech, Trump threw 16 false ideas into the air, summarized by .
Some of them: the idea that the emergency agency did not respond immediately in North Carolina, in ; the idea that when he was president, illegal immigration was at an all-time low in the US; or that there are over 300,000 children missing, dead, sex slaves or slaves because of Kamala Harris.
Even so, Donald Trump holds the elections on November 5th.
And it was a victory “historical”, or even “overwhelming”, as has been commented. The president-elect himself said: “We have had a resounding success. THE biggest victory in over 100 years“.
But this is also a lie.
The accounts show that the victory of the Republican Party, in the popular vote, was the one that achieved one of the shorter margins… since the 19th century.
And, looking at the accounts until last Friday, the difference was really minimal: 49.998% for Trump, 48.4% for Harris. It is the third smallest margin since 1888.
The difference of 1.6 percentage points could still fall to 1.5 percentage points, adds the newspaper.
But the idea of “overwhelming” victory continues and will continue to spread.
For two main reasons: it makes Donald Trump seem more popular of what it is; and gives another alleged power, an alleged status, if more radical measures are applied in the next term.
