Heavy rain that hit Rio Branco late this Sunday afternoon (24) caused flooding in part of the Arena da Floresta. The incident occurred during the reopening of the stadium, which is hosting a friendly between Flamengo and Santa Cruz.
Many people who were there were surprised by the accumulation of water, which formed on the sides of the stadium’s covered area. The majority of fans had to cross the accumulated water to access their seats.
It is not yet known whether the flooding is the result of structural flaws in the Arena project, which has undergone recent renovations. The situation raises questions about the effectiveness of the works carried out, especially considering that the stadium was reopened on the same day as the incident.
The stadium administration has not yet officially commented on what happened, and it is expected that clarifications will be made to understand the causes of the flooding and ensure the safety of attendees at future events.
