Vinícius Júnior is only expected to return to the pitch in 2025. The Brazilian striker suffered an injury in a Real Madrid match at the weekend and the initial forecast is that he will be sidelined for a month. Therefore, it is already a certain absence for the clash with Liverpool, leaders of the Champions League, on Wednesday, at Anfield.
“Following the tests carried out today on our player Vini Jr. by Real Madrid’s medical services, he was diagnosed with an injury to the biceps femoris of his left leg”, announced the Spanish club, this Monday.
As usual, the Madrid team does not release an estimated time for the athlete’s recovery. But the Spanish press points to a four-week layoff. The prediction is based on similar injuries that the Brazilian has already suffered in the same muscle in other situations.
The Brazilian national team striker felt muscle pain during the 3-0 victory over Leganés, on Sunday, in the Spanish Championship round. He played the 90 minutes, without restrictions. But he pointed out the muscle discomfort as soon as he arrived in the locker room. An exam carried out this Monday confirmed the problem in the muscle.
Vinícius Júnior’s absence comes at a delicate time for Real this season. In Spanish, they are four points behind leader and arch-rival Barcelona. And, in the Champions League, they have been disappointing the fans, with two defeats in four games. With this record, the Spanish team occupies a modest 18th place in the table, outside the direct classification zone for the round of 16.
Without Vini Jr., coach Carlo Ancelotti could give another Brazilian a chance. Endrick, who has not been given chances in the starting team, is one of the options for the sector. But he faces competition from Brahim Díaz and Arda Güler. Rodrygo, another Brazilian in the same sector, is injured and does not have an exact date for his return yet. On Sunday, Endrick gained some minutes on the field in the final stretch against Leganés.
