Asian Champions League how it works
AFC Elite Champions League, also known as the Asian Champions League, is the main football club competition on the Asian continent, organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). From the 2024/2025 season onwards, the tournament updated a new format, increasing competitiveness and fan engagement.
The competition has 24 teams, divided into two regional leagues of 12 clubs each.
Each club plays eight matches, four at home and four away, against opponents selected by draw. Matches are distributed in a way to ensure teams face a variety of opponents within their region.
Teams that finish between 5th and 8th in each league compete in a playoff phase to determine the remaining places in the round of 16.
Elimination Phase: From the round of 16 onwards, clashes are held in single matches, culminating in the final, which is also played in a single game at a previously determined location.
