Sport’s highlight in the promotion campaign to Series B, midfielder Lucas Lima, who belongs to Santos, can remain on Ilha do Retiro. The management of the Pernambuco team wants to extend the relationship with the player, but will have to negotiate with Peixe.
In an interview with “ESPN”, the president of Sport, Yuri Romão, confirmed his interest in having Lucas Lima in Série A in 2025.
– We talked to him briefly, it wasn’t even me who talked. There is interest on his part. Now a negotiation actually takes place. There’s a businessman, he, Santos… It’s not something trivial, he’s not going to buy a bag of beans. You are negotiating a high-level athlete. There is interest from the parties in him remaining in Pernambuco, in having him with us in 2025. Let’s try to find the variables that fit into this equation so that everything works out in the end – declared Romão.
Lucas Lima was loaned to Sport after being barred from training at Santos’ CT in January, following an assessment that he was not part of coach Fábio Carille’s plans. In addition to him, left-back Dodô and striker Mendoza were left out.
In his second spell at Sport, Lucas Lima scored the two goals in the 2-1 victory against Santos, on Sunday (24), in the last round of Series B. The Recife team paid R$500,000 to Alvinegro to be able to climb the athlete. During the season, with the red-black shirt, he scored four goals and ten assists in 53 matches.

How long does Lucas Lima’s contract with Santos last?
Lucas Lima has a contract with Santos until April 2024 and is not expected to return to Vila Belmiro. In an interview after Sport’s access, the midfielder revealed his desire to remain at Leão.
– I don’t know (if it remains), but now we’re going to talk about it. I still have a contract with Santos, but the president (Yuri Romão) already knows my desire – said the player.
During Series B, the clubs shared the athlete’s salary, equivalent to R$350,000. Sport paid R$200,000 and Peixe paid R$150,000.
If Lucas Lima remains at Sport for 2025, the club will assume his salaries in full.
