Zrepresentatives of the Medical Trade Union (LOZ) criticize the Minister of Health Kamil Šašek (Hlas-SD) for not presenting the promised draft laws to them at Tuesday’s meeting. According to the head of LOZ, Petr Visolajský, the government significantly underestimates the situation. He stated it after meeting with the minister. Before the meeting, the jester confirmed to journalists that he was going to present the deduction of the fulfillment of the memorandum to the medical trade unionists. According to him, he will comment on the topic after Wednesday’s (November 27) government meeting.
“Today we were promised that the minister would present the deduction of points and draft laws. We have not received any laws yet, the deduction of points will be sent to us. (…) So in one word, one sentence, I fear that the government significantly underestimates this situation,” said Visolajský. However, he positively evaluates Šašek’s promise that he will take up the issue of the resolution on the transformation of state hospitals into joint-stock companies at Wednesday’s meeting with the government.
At the same time, the head of medical trade unions informed that some doctors definitively decided not to withdraw their resignations and leave Slovakia. “Unfortunately, the longer this situation lasts, the more those numbers increase. (…) For now, fortunately, it is in units,” he added.
More than 3,300 doctors from hospitals across Slovakia resigned as a sign of dissatisfaction with the situation in the healthcare sector. At the same time, doctors also consider dismissal from overtime work. They are willing to withdraw their resignations if the government starts fulfilling their demands. In particular, they insist on fulfilling the points of the memorandum. At the same time, they demand that the government decide that there will be no transformation of state hospitals into joint stock companies.
