Freddy Beleris: "Europe is ready to lose a key element of AI innovation"

“I realize that Europe is becoming less competitive and is about to lose a key element of innovation in Artificial intelligenceespecially in the open models”said Mr. Beleris and explaining, added: “Open source AI models have the potential to increase productivity, boost scientific research and add hundreds of billions of euros to the European economy. They ensure access and freedom in many fields such as medicine, education, public administration and new businesses by giving access to tools they could not build or buy.”.

“Without these advances”continued Mr. Beleris, “the development of artificial intelligence will happen elsewhere, depriving Europeans of technological progress enjoyed by the US, China and India”.

To avoid this, he said, we need quick and clear decisions, which allow the use of European data for the benefit of European citizens. “Our Union must be a pioneer in ideas, but also in practice”he concluded.
