There are three rounds left before the Brazilian Championship comes to an end. With 70 points won, Palmeiras and Botafogo face each other, this Tuesday (26), to play in the game that promises to be the final of the Brasileirão. The match takes place at Allianz Parque, starting at 9:30 pm. Check it out .
In history, the two teams have faced each other in 106 games, with 32 wins for Botafogo, 34 draws and 40 triumphs for Palmeiras. In the scenario of the 36th round confrontation, the disadvantage for Fogão becomes even more evident. With Verdão as home team, 55 games were played between the two teams, with nine positive results for Alvinegro, 17 draws and 29 victories for Palestra.
According to calculations by the mathematics department at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), Palmeiras has the greatest chance of finishing with the title, with a 64.2% probability. On the other hand, Fogão only has a 33.1% chance of being champion of the Brasileirão.
Botafogo arrives at the clash with the pressure of having lost the top of the table after the ghost of the last Série A and the expectation for the Libertadores final at the weekend. Even with the point gained against the Bahian team, the lead was lost as Palmeiras had one more victory than Alvinegro.
Additionally, Portuguese Artur Jorge will be joined by Argentine defender Alexander Barboza and striker Luiz Henrique, who were left out in the previous round due to suspension. On the other hand, center forward Tiquinho Soares was sent off against the Bahian team and will be absent.
“We will go into the next round game as a final. This is the spirit we have, of looking forward because there is nothing more we can do backwards”, said the Alvinegro coach.
Botafogo’s probable lineup: John; Vitinho (Ponte), Bastos, Alexander Barboza and Alex Telles; Gregore and Marlon Freitas; Luiz Henrique, Savarino and Thiago Almada; Igor Jesus.

No pressure
On the other hand, Palmeiras reaches the triumph against Atlético-GO. Coach Abel Ferreira, however, disagreed about the team having taken the lead from the Rio team. During a press conference, the Portuguese highlighted Verdão’s failures this season and praised the opponent, indicating that the squad led by Artur Jorge is the favorite to come away with the three points.
“There are three games left, I’m not going to change anything. We are out of the Copa do Brasil with the winner, we are out of the Libertadores with a finalist. Botafogo has a brilliant team, an excellent coach and great players,” he said.
It is worth noting that this is not the first time that the alviverde commander has made a statement in this tone. Last season, Abel stated on more than one occasion that Botafogo was the favorite to be Series A champion. Palmeiras finished as winners of the Brasileirão.
The team’s main news for the clash is the return of defender Murilo, who recovered from pain felt in the last match. As a result, the tendency is for Vitor Reis to return to the bench.
Probable Palmeiras lineup: Weverton, Marcos Rocha, Murilo, Gustavo Gómez and Caio Paulista; Aníbal Moreno, Richard Ríos and Raphael Veiga; Felipe Anderson, Estêvão and Rony (Flaco López).
