In Spain, in the Granada region, an under-11 football game was marred by an unfortunate incident. After the final whistle of the match between Alhendín and Espanhol de Albolote, the mother of a player from the visiting team entered the field and slapped the referee.
The referee even reacted, trying to push the attacker, but the atmosphere was quickly calmed down by members of the teams involved.
The Spanish football school of Albolote, affiliated with Espanyol de Barcelona, has already publicly condemned what happened through a statement, distancing itself from the behavior of the player’s mother and reiterating its commitment to values of respect and sportsmanship.
