Russia attacked Ukraine during the night a record number of 188 drones, the Ukrainian Air Force said on Tuesday. The attack damaged buildings and critical infrastructure in several regions of Ukraine. It was reported by the AFP agency.

The statement said that they were Iranian Shahid drones and other unidentified drones. Out of 188 drones, air defense systems shot down 76 in 17 Ukrainian regions. Another 95 were lost to radar or crashed in electronic warfare. In addition to the drones, according to Ukraine, Russia fired four Iskander-M ballistic missiles during the massive attack.

AFP correspondents also reported explosions over the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. The military administration there reported on repelling an attack by more than ten drones. Russian airstrikes on Tuesday night damaged critical infrastructure and cut power to 70 percent of the Ternopil region in western Ukraine.

According to AFP, both Moscow and Kyiv have recently escalated mutual attacks with drones and missiles. The agency reminds that Ukraine has recently launched attacks on Russia using American ATACMS and British Storm Shadow missiles. Russia responded by striking the eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro with a new medium-range Oresnik (Lieska) hypersonic missile.
