And although at first glance they seem harmless, this is only an appearance. Their larvae most often appear in dry food. You can often bring them from the store along with rice, groats or flour. They quickly spread to other products in kitchen cabinets, which makes them very difficult to get rid of. If you have noticed these small insects in your kitchen, you need to act immediately and comprehensively. After cleaning your kitchen cabinets, place cotton balls soaked in essential oil inside them. Just 5 drops on a cotton pad are enough to remove it from your cupboards. However, remember to choose one of those scents that these insects do not like. These are: vanilla, anise, lavender, eucalyptus, mint, lemon, cloves, orange.
How to get rid of food moths in the kitchen?
However, before you start placing cotton pads soaked in essential oil, carefully clean each kitchen cabinet. Throw opened products into the trash, and place unopened products in tightly closed containers. Then wash the insides of the cabinets with soap and water, and after drying them, wipe them with vinegar, which repels moths. It is also worth putting 2 bay leaves in each container with dry products. You can also place moth traps in kitchen cabinets and on countertops. Just pour apple or spirit vinegar into a small glass. Food moths do not like pungent odors and avoid such places.
