According to Decon’s chief delegate, Wellington Pereira Vieira, the scheme caused a loss of around R$50 million to health plans.
The investigation shows that the group filed requests for injunctions in court to speed up the approval of overpriced surgeries that were paid for by health plans.
The suspects also requested refunds for services that had not been carried outaccording to the delegate leading the investigations.
The police also point to the participation of companies supplying orthoses, prostheticsand special materials, which were sold at a high cost and were also paid for by health plans.
