Four Slovaks were supposed to allow several Ukrainians to stay illegally on the territory of Slovakia and other states of the European Union. They were supposed to create fictitious conditions for them to fulfill the requirements for obtaining a temporary residence, or its renewal. They should have charged thousands of euros for it. The purpose was to do business on the territory of Slovakia. TASR was informed about this by the spokesperson of the Presidium of the Police (PPZ) Martina Sláviková.
Investigator of the National Unit for Combating Illegal Migration of the Office of the Border and Aliens Police PPZ detained four accused of the crime of smuggling. “The accused persons should have provided the necessary documents for the issuance of a residence permit and the issuance of fictitious documents on the provision of accommodation. Also they were supposed to accompany members of third countries at foreign police departments,” said Sláviková.
Police documented during house searches also drug crime and the crime of illegal weaponry. Necessary actions are also underway in connection with this criminal activity.
“We are currently carrying out procedural actions in cooperation with the foreign police departments in Dunajská Streda and Nové Zámky,” confirmed Sláviková. She added that if proven guilty, the accused face a prison sentence of two to eight years.
