The opposition in Lisbon has already filed a complaint with the National Elections Commission. At issue is a decontextualized video published on the Lisbon City Council’s own account.
It is “unheard of and unacceptable” that Moedas “appropriates” the institutional accounts of the Lisbon City Council (CML) to make “personal propaganda”writes PS Lisboa in an X.
The opposition deputy Pedro Anastácio also on social media: “Public resources at the service of political combat in Lisbon, in a total confusion between the municipality’s accounts and the President’s account. Unheard of and absolutely unacceptable. There are limits President Coins“. In another, he said: “Not everything is worth it”.
What is in question is a video used by the official CML account to warn about the problem of urban hygiene. In the publication, it is written “Clean Lisbon, Yes! In a city that belongs to everyone, it is up to everyone to do their part. Place trash in the correct locations. Schedule bulky waste collection. Don’t leave trash on the floor.”
The problem is that the publication is accompanied by a video, the context of which — location and name of the speaker — are not identified, and where a resident intervenes: “Regarding trash, it won’t be easy to get it. You have to first educate the population and then deal with the garbage. I see posters on the street about trash – one even with your name – that even shocks me. I think that is the most shameful thing possible, because no government has managed to do anything.”,
Clean Lisbon, Yes!
In a city that belongs to everyone, it is up to everyone to do their part.
✅ Place trash in the correct places
✅ Schedule bulky waste collection
❌ Don’t leave trash on the floor.— Lisbon (@CamaraLisboa)
According to , the problem of trash on the streets is a recurring theme on the CML’s official X page. Only in the last week, the newspaper points out, 9 of the 33 posts made on the social network were related to this topic.
This Sunday, the city hall announced the installation of 3300 new containers on the streets of Lisbon, an investment of “about 250 thousand euros to meet the most immediate needs”, quotes Expresso.
But the PS was not alone in criticizing the Mayor of Lisbon. The Bloco de Esquerda went even further and ended up submitting a complaint to the National Elections Commission (CNE) for what is guaranteed to be “a shameless use of CML resources to promote the president”.
On the social network
In a statement sent to Lusa, BE writes: “This campaign is far from being an institutional campaign by the CML, where an action by CML or an event promoted by CML or partners is reported. On the contrary, it is political propagandausing a version of political propaganda by the famous Brazilian politician Tiririca, who popularized the slogan ‘it doesn’t get any worse than it is’”
Livre also criticized Moedas, pointing out that the President “escapes the responsibility it has in poor waste management in Lisbon and uses CML’s institutional accounts to blame residents and attack political opponents. The CML is not its president and Carlos Moedas must assume his commitments to the city”.
