Violet can bloom almost all year round. One thing is enough

Do you want your apartment to be decorated with African violet flowers?introducing a spring accent during cloudy winter days? First of all, you need to take proper care of it. If you follow the most important care rules, the next step is to start fertilizing… with beer.

it can be grown even by beginners because its care is not complicated. However, we must apply the most important principles to support the flowering of the specimen. So how do you care for this wonderful houseplant?

African violet grows well in sunny places, but it is better if the sun’s rays do not fall directly on it. They can cause leaf burn, that’s why it is best to choose positions with diffused light.

This specimen is planted in light garden soil mixed with peat or perlite. Due to the shallow root system, we must choose flat and wide pots. The plant requires transplanting to a new substrate once a year. Thanks to this, we provide it with room to develop.

Water the African violet every 2 days, preferably using the absorption method. It involves pouring water into the stand, not directly into the ground. All this to avoid water contact with flower petals and leaves – this may lead to fungal diseases.

This plant likes moist air, but unlike most specimens – we cannot spray its leaves. We should therefore remove dust using a soft brush or brush.

  • Removing dry leaves and flowers

African violet will bloom better if we start regularly removing the dried leaves and inflorescences. Moreover, this care activity also prevents the development of fungal diseases.

In addition to the above rules African violet needs additional support to bloom. We are talking about fertilization, which allows flowers to bloom most of the year.

There is no shortage of fertilizers for this plant in gardening stores. However, we can use products we have at home. In the case of this specimen, light beer will come in handy. So how to make a conditioner out of it?

Enough mix 10 ml of light beer with 250 ml of water. We water the African violet with this conditioner once a month. Thanks to it, we will strengthen the plant – it will quickly start to grow both new leaves and flowers. Its appearance will be significantly improved.
