Voepass accident: Chamber committee hears Anac, Latam and government this Tuesday (26)

The external committee of the Chamber of Deputies responsible for monitoring the investigations will hold another public hearing this Tuesday (26), starting at 3 pm. Representatives from the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac), Latam, the Public Defender’s Office and the Ministry of Justice and Public Security were invited.

The meeting was requested by the coordinator of the collegiate, deputy Bruno Ganem (Podemos-SP), by the rapporteur, deputy Fernando Padovani (União-PR), and by deputy Pedro Aihara (PRD-MG).

According to parliamentarians, representatives will be able to talk about everything from the maintenance conditions of aircraft operating in the country to the management of incidents related to flight safety. In addition, they will also discuss ensuring that the rights of victims and their families are fully respected and protected

In the case of Latam, the invitation was made because the company had a “shared code” agreement with Voepass, which allows, for example, sharing flights. Deputies state, however, that there are doubts about a series of differences between the relationship between the two companies.

They confirmed their presence at the hearing:

  • Tiago Souza Pereira, CEO of the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC);
  • Luciana Jordão, general public defender of the State of São Paulo;
  • Eduardo Macedo, Public Affairs leader at Latam Airlines in Brazil;
  • Vitor Hugo do Amaral Ferreira, director of the Department of Consumer Protection and Defense of the Ministry of Justice and Public Security.

According to her, the Public Ministry of Labor (MPT) will evaluate the case in a systemic way, looking for indirect causes that may have contributed to the accident, such as possible crew exhaustion.
