In the Irkutsk region of Russia, the Ilginskoye condensate gas field was discovered.
Interfax informs about this with reference to the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia. According to the classification, the discovered field is part of the large category – its reserves amount to 135.4 billion cubic meters of gas and 4.4 million tons of condensate.
The deposit was discovered in the Znamensky area, whose underground user is Sibgaz. The discovery was made at the company’s own expense. The company holds a license for the hydrocarbon zone in the Ust-Udinsky, Zhigalovsky and Kachugsky districts of the Irkutsk region. In 2002, the estimated recoverable resources within the Znamensky block were 90 billion cubic meters. During a speech at the BRICS Business Forum, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russia has “simply unlimited” energy resources, including oil, natural gas and coal. The country should use its competitive advantages and not give in to the ecological agenda promoted under the guise of good intentions, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said.
According to Alexandr Smirnov, deputy director of the State Commission for Mineral Reserves (SCR), Russia has enough gas reserves in its fields for the next 90 years. They amount to 67 trillion cubic meters. Oil reserves will be enough for 32 years, added Sergey Tsivilev, head of the Ministry of Energy.
