This Tuesday (26) approved a bill that authorizes the federal government to give discounts and renegotiate installments of rural credit operations for producers in April and May of this year.

The vote was symbolic, when there is no counting of votes in a panel. An urgency request (which speeds up the processing of the proposal) was approved shortly before by the deputies.

The text still needs to pass the Senate before being sanctioned. If the content of the proposal is maintained, producers with losses of 30% or more as a result of extreme weather events will benefit.

This percentage will need to be validated by the Sustainable Rural Development Council.

Rural credit contracts expiring between May 1st and December 31st, 2024 and which have been closed by April 15th of this year will be subject to renegotiation. It is also necessary that the resources have started to be released before May 1st.

To benefit from the renegotiation, rural producers will need to be in cities in Rio Grande do Sul with a public calamity or emergency decree published by July 31st.

The bill incorporates content from two Executive MPs (provisional measures) that would lose validity — one this week and the other in December. It was reported by deputy Zucco (PL-RS).

Zucco included in his opinion a type of Desenrola Rural, aimed at negative rural products. The permission will be valid for rural credit contracts via Pronaf (National Program for Strengthening Family Agriculture). According to Sheet As it turned out, this was a request from the Ministry of Agrarian Development.
