For the record, Monaco’s national holiday, also called “sovereign day“, was traditionally fixed on the day of the patron saint of the reigning prince. However, Prince Rainier III had departed from this tradition by choosing the day of his enthronement (November 19, editor’s note) which also happens to be the day of the celebration of Blessed Rainier of Arezzo. In memory of his father, Prince Albert II kept the same date, thus setting November 19 as the Monegasque national holiday.
