Businessman Fernando Oliveira Lima, appointed as one of the representatives of the “Tigrinho game” in Brazil, stated this Tuesday (26) to the CPI das Bets in the Senate that he does not know who he signed a contract with. The CPI investigates irregularities involving virtual online betting games. During the session, it was pointed out that the OIG signed a contract with the Armenian company Bet Construct through a representative identified only as “Micael”.
The statement generated criticism from parliamentarians, such as senator Marcos Rogério (PL-RO), who named Lima as “the first company owner who signs contracts, but does not know who he is dealing with”.
Furthermore, the Financial Activities Control Council (Coaf) identified a suspicious movement of R$1.7 million from OIG to a company registered in the name of a cleaning lady from São Paulo. The CEO also said he did not know the identity of the woman involved in the transaction.
The OIG manages betting platforms such as 7 Games, Betão and R7.bet, all listed by the Ministry of Finance as capable of operating until 2025. During his testimony, Fernando Oliveira Lima confirmed that he owned the plane that transported minister Kassio Nunes Marques, from Federal Supreme Court (STF) for singer Gusttavo Lima’s birthday party on a luxury yacht in Greece, in September.

The commission intends to hear Lima again in 15 days to detail the company’s contracts and transactions. Created in October this year, the CPI das Bets, chaired by senator Dr. Hiran (PP-RR), investigates the influence of online betting on the budget of Brazilian families.

The CPI will work on eight axes, such as money laundering and currency evasion, consumer rights, financial transactions, socioeconomic impacts, advertising and social responsibility, algorithms and transparency on platforms, education and awareness and impacts on health.
