Police in Saint-Étienne, in the Loire department of central France, fatally shot a man armed with two knives on Tuesday afternoon. with which he threatened random passers-by. Le Figaro reported about it, writes TASR.
The armed man was moving near the Christmas markets, while he began to chase some visitors with a knife in his hand. He then grabbed an elderly woman and put a knife to her neck. The woman suffered minor injuries.
After the arrival of the called city police patrol, the man ran away. Police gave chase and used a firearm in an attempt to detain the suspect. The man was taken to the hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The police closed off the place where the shooting took place and diverted individual and mass traffic from there, which caused chaos in the city, Le Figaro newspaper stated.
