Soldiers used a figurine of Moraes with a “penis head”

Message exchanges obtained by the (Federal Police) show that military personnel involved in the alleged coup d’état joked about the possibility of being arrested.

According to the corporation’s investigations released this Tuesday (November 26, 2024), the officers drafted, negotiated and signed a letter with “anti-democratic content”. The document, titled “Letter to the Commander of the Army from Senior Active Officers of the Brazilian Army”would be sent to the heads of the Armed Forces.

In a conversation between officer Roland Araújo and Major Sergio Cavaliere, they show the dynamics of writing the letter to Army officers. In the messages, they send a sticker of the minister of the (Supreme Federal Court) Alexandre de Moraes with “penis head” and they say “we’re going to get arrested for him”.

The soldiers continue the conversation and begin to mention the code names of other members of the Army who also signed the document. Considering the quantity, Cavaliere responds that it would already be possible “hit a little goal while sunbathing”in reference to playing football during the daylight hours that prisoners are entitled to when serving their sentences.

In another conversation between lieutenant colonel and former aide-de-camp of (PL), Mauro Cid, and colonel Bernardo Romão Corrêa Netto, they talk about the result of a meeting on December 14, 2022. Correa Netto asks: “GFG cagou?” and then reaffirm “GFG solemnly shit”.

To the PF, Cid confirmed that the meeting was with the then Minister of Defense, Paulo Sérgio Nogueira, and with the commanders of the Armed Forces. According to the lieutenant colonel, the minister presented the draft decree to reverse the result of the presidential elections.

Cid also reported that GFG was referring to General Freire Gomes, who took a stance against the coup proposal.

PF REPORT

The Federal Police concluded that groups were grouped to disseminate the narrative of fraud in the 2022 presidential elections, even before they took place. The purpose would be to legitimize a intervention by the Armed Forces.

There would be 5 axes of action:

1. virtual attacks on opponents;
2. attacks on institutions (STF and TSE), electronic voting machines and the health of the electoral process;
3. attempted coup d’état and violent abolition of the democratic rule of law;
4. attacks on covid vaccines and health measures in the pandemic; and
5. use of the State structure to obtain advantages.

WHAT BOLSONARO SAYS

The former president denied having knowledge of the scheme to kill Lula or the attempted coup. Said he always acted “within the 4 lines of the Constitution” and that, in them, “there is no death penalty”in reference to the murder of the PT member.
