Sporting's defeat against Arsenal "was a strong lesson for João Perreira"

Analysis

António Ribeiro Cristóvão, SIC commentator, considers that “Sporting played a bad game during practically the entire match, with the exception of the first 10 minutes”. The defeat to Arsenal was the first since the Super Cup, in August.

Sporting lost this Tuesday for the first time since Ruben Amorim left the club. The last defeat was against FC Porto, in the Super Cup, in August. Now, under the command of João Pereira, the ‘lions suffered their first defeat of the season against Arsenal.

António Ribeiro Cristóvão, SIC commentator, highlights that “it was an atypical night” in the Champions League, in which the teams “scored 40 goals in nine games, an average of more than four goals per game”.

However, the 5-1 defeat in Alvalade is still “a strong lesson for João Pereira”.

“Sporting played a bad game throughout practically the entire match, with the exception of the first 10 minutes. The team made two fouls in the first half, shot twice on goal, it’s very little”, considers Antonio Ribeiro Cristóvão.

The SIC commentator remembers that the ‘lions’ will enter “a cycle that is not easy”: first they play against Santa Clara, “one of the surprise teams in the championship”, followed by Moreirense, “where everyone feels difficulty”, and then comes Club Brugge, in the Champions League.
