Another six people were injured in a collision between a car and a bus. The police are investigating the circumstances of the accident, and have started a criminal investigation into the offense of public endangerment. TASR was informed about this by the Trenčín regional police spokesperson Petra Klenková.
“The 60-year-old driver of a Škoda Octavia passenger car while turning left onto a side road in the direction of Ruskovce he did not give way to the driver of the oncoming bus on the main road, as a result of which they collided.” described Klenková. According to her, there were nine passengers in the bus.
“All emergency services intervened at the scene of the tragic traffic accident. Despite their efforts, the 60-year-old driver of a passenger motor vehicle succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. Another six people from the bus suffered injuries that required medical treatment at the hospital.” added Klenková.
The police subjected the bus driver to a breathalyzer test, which ended with a negative result. A forensic autopsy was ordered for the driver of a passenger motor vehicle in order to determine the consumption of alcohol or other addictive substances.
“An expert from the transport department was also present at the site. The investigator of the criminal police department from Bánoviec nad Bebravou started a criminal prosecution in the matter of the crime of general endangerment. The exact causes and circumstances of the traffic accident are under investigation,” the police spokeswoman added.
