Winter is the time when the windows of our homes get a unique chance to shine. Whether it’s freezing outside or gently snowing, window decorations can bring magic that warms the heart of everyone passing by. Just a few simple tricks and your windows will turn into a small work of art that will make you happy for months.

Winter is the time when our homes need a little more light, warmth and magic. Window decorations have the ability to transform not only the interior, but also the view of the house from the outside. Advent wreaths and twinkling lights are classics, but why limit yourself to just a few weeks? Properly chosen winter decorations can remain beautiful throughout the season and welcome spring with the same elegance with which they ushered in Advent.

Chests as the basis of winter decoration

Windows decorated with boxes are gaining popularity even in winter. You don’t have to plant only flowering plants. The ideal choice is hardy conifers, holly branches or ivy, which can withstand frost and stay beautiful for months.

Just combine them with decorations such as pine cones, dried oranges or artificial flowers in natural tones. Delicate light chains give these boxes a magical atmosphere in the evening.

An interesting tip is to use colored branches of dogwood or willow twigs. Their red or orange color goes well with the winter landscape. In addition, they do not require any special care, unlike live plants, which you can also grow in winter boxes.

“Reduce the soil moisture for plants in boxes over the winter so that they do not suffer from a lack of water, but at the same time the substrate in the container is not overwatered,” advises gardener Čestmír Böhm.

Nordic style minimalism

If you prefer clean design, be inspired by Nordic minimalism. White hanging stars, delicate light balls or glass ornaments can be inconspicuous, but still very effective. The key is their simplicity, which matches the frosty look of winter.

Another tip is transparent hanging decorations, in which you can insert twigs, gingerbread or small dried flowers. Hang them in your windows and enjoy their changing appearance when the winter sun shines on them.

Snow elegance behind glass

Sometimes just the little details are enough. Winter window stickers with motifs of snowflakes, stars or forest animals can create the illusion of a snowy forest. If you want even more originality, try making your own templates and apply snow patterns using artificial snow in a spray.

Those who like handicrafts can reach for paper cut-outs or crocheted snowflakes. Combine them with delicate white curtains and create a window that resembles an ice kingdom.

Decoration from natural materials

Winter calls for natural materials. Wooden ornaments, pine cones, moss or dried fruit are not only beautiful, but also environmentally friendly. Use the branches left after pruning trees and hang decorations in the form of small birds or stars on them.

You can hang dried fruits such as apples or oranges on strings and create a natural garland. If you add cinnamon, star anise or cloves to it, you will get an additional pleasant aroma.

Windows full of light

The winter season is synonymous with darkness. Therefore, add as much light as possible to the windows. Chains with tiny diodes in the shape of stars or snowflakes have a soft yet magical effect. Modern LED lights with a warm white shade suit any style.

If you want something more expressive, get larger hanging lighting decorations such as giant stars or hearts. These elements will create a cozy atmosphere that will be appreciated by everyone passing by and the residents of the house.

Winter decoration for long-lasting charm

Winter window decorations can be elegant, simple and playful. The key is to choose materials and elements that can withstand winter weather and do not require complex maintenance. Conifers, natural materials or light decorations are among the most popular choices. Add a little fantasy to them and your home will acquire an irresistible charm that will last until the first rays of spring.
