In October 2024, Brazil recorded a drop in the creation of formal documents, according to data released by (CAGED). 132,714 formal jobs were created, marking the lowest number for the month of October since 2020. Compared to the same period of the previous year, there was a 30.3% reduction in the number of vacancies created, as in October In 2023, 190,366 vacancies were opened.

CAGED measures jobs considering the difference between hiring and firing of formal jobs in the country. Since the change in the calculation methodology in 2020, comparisons with previous years have become unfeasible. The Minister of Labor and Employment, attributed the drop in job creation to high interest rates, but expressed optimism that the transition at the Central Bank could reverse this situation.

Despite the drop observed in October, the accumulated balance for the first ten months of 2024 presents a more positive scenario. 2,117,473 formal job vacancies were opened, representing an increase of 18.6% compared to the same period in 2023. This result is the best since 2022.
