Butter has not been available at this price for a long time. It will only be in Lidl for one day

Christmas is coming and we prepare a lot of dishes. Butter is useful for most of them. This is where we fry carp or dumplings with cabbage. We also add them to Christmas cakes, including: cheesecake and poppy seed cake. Before Christmas, you have to buy a lot of products, which have been steadily increasing in price for several years. It is worth looking for it on sale and then freezing the cubes. However, you have to be careful that it doesn’t break down in the meantime.

The price of butter has been rising for several years. Initially, to stop this growth, producers reduced the size of butter – from 250 to 200 grams. Unfortunately, the trend continued in 2022 – due to inflation at 14%. and the difficult economic situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic – 200 grams of butter cost PLN 7.91.

In July 2024, the average price for such a portion of butter dropped to PLN 6, at the end of August it increased again to PLN 7.08, and at the end of September it ranged from PLN 7.5 to 8.5.

In November, butter in various stores costs from approximately PLN 7 to even PLN 10. Economic experts predict that the situation will not stabilize in the near future and prices will remain high.

With butter prices so high, it should come as no surprise Many Poles are looking for a product on sale. Discount stores compete with each other with discounts and great offers. This week Lidl offers in its leaflet 200 grams of extra butter 82 percent for PLN 4.99. The standard price of the product is PLN 8.49. The promotion is valid only when purchasing three pieces of the product. Crucially, the low price of butter is valid for one day only – on Friday, November 29. Details of the mentioned promotion are available in the store application.

Although butter can be obtained on sale, it is usually available in multi-packs or larger quantities. What to do if we don’t want to use all the cubes at once? Butter can be frozen – without any worries about changing its taste or consistency. How to do it and how long can you keep butter in the freezer?

The butter can be frozen for up to about 3 monthsand those with added salt (so-called salted butter) for up to 9 months. So if you buy regular 82% butter in November, you will be able to easily use the necessary portion for Christmas recipes.
