The European Investment Bank explains that the project contributes to the cohesion objective and estimates that the majority of beneficiaries are “located in priority cohesion regions”, promoting regional economic development.
“This agreement aims to facilitate access to financing for strategic sectors of the Portuguese economy and will have a guarantee of 150 million euros from the EIB, with the total value of the project being 300 million euros”, says a statement released this Thursday by European body.
In the EIB’s view, access to financing by mid-cap companies – the so-called ‘midcaps’ – “promotes economic growth and employability”, anticipating “a mobilization of new financial investments worth up to R$420 million”.
The beneficiary companies may have lower credit ratesgreater volumes of financing or presenting fewer guarantees.

Quoted in the document, CGD’s executive director Francisco Cary pointed out that this agreement reinforces the bank’s commitment and demonstrates “a proactive and collaborative approach”, ensuring that the instrument will be operationalized “as soon as possible”. of the EIB, Jean-Christophe Laloux, pointed out that CGD is one of the institution’s largest partners in Portugal.
