Monza has hosted the Grand Prix race in the country since 1950, except in 1980, when it underwent renovations

Formula 1 on Wednesday (November 27, 2024) renewed the contract that guarantees the continuity of the Monza track on the F1 calendar until 2031. The previous agreement was scheduled to expire at the end of the 2025 season. The renewal takes place later of the series of improvements to the Autodromo Nacional de Monza, carried out before the 2024 Grand Prix. The 2024 event received 335,000 spectators, and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc won the race.

Monza has been the venue for the Italian Grand Prix since the 1950 World Championship, except in 1980 when the circuit underwent renovations. F1 has seen an increase in viewership in Italy, with 183.3 million viewers in 2023.

In addition to Monza, Formula 1 holds the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix at the Imola circuit, also in Italy, which is also in the process of renewing its contract, valid until 2025.

F1 also recently renewed its contract with the organizers of the Monaco Grand Prix, which will remain on the calendar until 2031.

Other circuits with contracts expiring after 2025 include Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium), Mexico City, Zandvoort (Netherlands) and Las Vegas (USA). All are in the process of renewing their contracts.

The 2024 F1 season draws to a close, with two races remaining: in Qatar and Abu Dhabi. The 2025 season will begin with the Australian Grand Prix on March 16 and conclude in Abu Dhabi in early December.
