An English mother was sentenced to seven years in prison for leaving her baby daughter in a drawer from the time she was born until she was three years old.
The child was found in February 2023, with severe malnutrition and dehydration. I couldn’t crawl, walk or talk, and never seen the light of daynor the face of another human being other than the mother.
He was incapable of any gesture of communication and had the equivalent of a 10 month old babydespite being 3 years old.
In addition to suffering from a cleft palate, a congenital malformation that affects the formation of the roof of the mouth, he also had flaccid limbs due to lack of activity, and his feet were positioned abnormally.
The child was discovered by the mother’s companion when he went up to the room to use the bathroom and heard a child’s noise. He ended up calling the police.
“A living death”

The judge emphasized that the woman “deprived the girl of any love, attention or interaction with others, an adequate diet” and due “medical attention”. “Catastrophic” actions they imposed on the baby “a living death”he further highlighted.

Mother didn’t want to tell the baby’s father
The baby was born at home in March 2020 and was never registered. THE mother kept her existence a secretclaiming to the authorities that he lived a abusive relationship with father of the baby and that he didn’t want to tell her that she was pregnant.
The woman had more children which he took to school every day, leaving the baby hidden in a drawer for several hours while he worked. She even spent Christmas Eve at her parents’ house with the other children, leaving the girl alone in the drawer.
A caregiver who takes care of the child revealed, in court, that she did not know “what food was” and that they had to teach her to smile.
