The president-elect of Uruguay, Yamandu Orsi, reiterated his position on Venezuela during a press conference this Wednesday (27), saying that his country must respect existing diplomatic relations, breaking the precedent of recent leaders of the small South American nation. .
Orsi, who takes office in March following his November 24 victory for the center-left, said he will decide “at the moment” whether to invite Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, increasingly isolated in the region after a contested election in July.
“Relations are between States, not between presidents,” Orsi said during the press conference. “We will have to see, there is still time. I hope everything is organized so that all countries are invited (to the inauguration)”.
