A pamphlet distributed by the Municipal Health Department of the administration () about the campaign, month of prevention of the disease, erroneously included instructions for women, who cannot develop the disease, as they do not have the male sexual gland.
In the space where it lists the risk factors for developing prostate cancer, the pamphlet mentions family history, age over 50, physical inactivity, excessive alcohol and cigarette consumption and obesity. In the last field, it states that “in the case of women, post-menopause”.
In a note, the secretariat says that the material “was distributed exclusively in a specific action carried out on the morning of this Wednesday (27) at the department’s headquarters, which was interrupted after the need for adjustments was identified.”
Prostate cancer. The tumor is the second most common among men, behind only skin cancer. The disease, however, has a high chance of being cured if discovered and treated early.
