Oskar Rózsa is under fire from critics after information became public that it would stand behind the innovation of the Slovak anthem. Many people were angered by his harsh words, which he addressed to some Slovaks, and also the high remuneration of 20,000 euros for his work.
The composer’s statements about the situation increased the tension even more, because his criticism towards others was perceived as indiscriminate and rude. This combination of facts set off a wave of negative reactions that has not subsided.
Finally, his wife Zdenka Predná also decided to react. “All I’m saying is…find out, check…don’t be satisfied with what they present to you, sentences taken out of context and the like,” she told the public.
However, the anger of part of the public was caused by his video, where he speaks to critics. “I’m not doing that anthem for you. You still haven’t understood that it’s not your anthem. It’s an anthem for a whole different group of people. And believe that there are significantly, several times more than you. No matter how loud you scream. Your time is running short. So, I’m begging you, crawl into your holes and give us some peace at last,” he declared.
A VIDEO, which also features politician Lukáš Machala, went viral on the internet and earned reactions from famous faces. You can see it at the beginning of the article.
Preliminary costs for the creation of the anthem are estimated at 46,000 euros. The singer couldn’t do it and decided to recalculate how much this was the controversial amount means per every citizen of Slovakia. According to her calculations, the Slovaks contribute 0.00921 euros each, of which 0.00368 euros goes to Rózs’s fee.
“And who has an unshakable feeling that they don’t want to put their money on the anthem… no problem…send me the account number and I’ll send you your money from the kitchen, you can also send it forward,” she challenged people.
