With more than 20 photographs, the meeting in the capital was marked by the backrests that replace benches at stops.
As stops of bus from Carris, in Lisboa, were the subject of works – and the result is not exactly receiving applause: there are stops that remain.
Now there are backrests. It’s a question of space, of narrow sidewalks, according to Lisbon City Council and JCDecaux, a company focused on outdoor advertising.
The issue is not just bothering passengers: it has already been discussed at Lisbon City Council.
At this Wednesday’s meeting, the deputy of Left BlocRicardo Moreira, took more than 20 photographs of stops. I wanted to show obstacles for pedestrians and users.
For the Bloc, President Carlos Moedas is deviating from the subject: “I didn’t hear him say anything about the way the JCDecaux has treated people in Lisbon. Benches that aren’t benches, holes everywhere, construction bags left everywhere”, quotes .
Focused on JCDecaux, the deputy demanded audit to the advertising company.
Ricardo Moreira also recalled a promise from Moedas – not fulfilled – to have lighting at stops.
Carlos Moedas recalled that the Left Bloc voted in favor of the award of the contract with JCDecaux. And he guaranteed that the new stops meet accessibility rules.
“Do you know why they have that grab bar? To respect the accessibility lawso people who, for example, are in wheelchairs, can have access”, explained the president of Lisbon City Council.
