FIFA announced, this Thursday (28/11), the 11 nominees and 16 nominees for The Best award, for the best player in the world. The honor, one for each gender, will be given for the 2023/2024 season. Brazilian Vini Jr, from Real Madrid, is among the competitors.
The award has been given by world football’s highest governing body since 1991 and has no connection with the Ballon d’Or, which is organized by the magazine “France Football” and the newspaper “L’Équipe”, and was won by Rodri, from Manchester City.
The FIFA awards count from August 21, 2023 to August 10, 2024. This includes the Copa América won by Argentina and the European Championship won by Spain.

How does The Best voting work?
A technical council from the entity defined the finalists. The award decision will be made by an electoral college made up of journalists, captains, national team coaches and the public, through internet voting. Each group has a weight of 25% in the final score.

When will The Best be delivered?
The date of the ceremony has not yet been announced, but it should take place in early 2025. The award for the 2022/2023 season was given on January 15, 2024.

Argentine Lionel Messi (Inter Miami) won the last The Best among men and Spanish Aitana Bonmatí (Barcelona) won the honor among women.
