The national inspector of justice, minister Mauro Campbell, ordered on Wednesday night (27) the precautionary removal of a federal judge mentioned in the 2022 report, which resulted in the indictment of the former president () and 36 others people.
According to the PF, investigations showed that magistrate Sandro Nunes Vieira, assigned to the TRF-4 (Federal Regional Court of the 4th Region), acted “illegally and clandestinely” when advising the PL (Liberal Party)
The decision was made after the body received a letter from the (Supreme Federal Court) informing about the magistrate’s conduct. According to the council’s advisors, the case is being processed under secrecy.
The report on the coup plot pointed out that data recovered from the cell phone of Bolsonaro’s former aide-de-camp revealed dialogues that indicated the judge’s participation in the case.
According to the PF, the judge worked at the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) from 2019 to August 2022. The police added that, in the month of May of the last year of his assignment at the TSE, the judge’s phone would have been saved on his cell phone. Marcelo Costa Câmara, retired colonel and former advisor to Bolsonaro.
The elements brought by the PF also found that the judge himself wrote a message so that the national president of the PL, Valdemar Costa Neto, would not mention his name.
based on a report that he knew to be false and was one of those responsible, together with Bolsonaro, for the decision to publish the fraudulent report.
When contacted, the TRF-4 advisor stated that the court also opened an administrative procedure on the case and that it will comply with all CNJ determinations that arrive. Sandro Nunes Vieira’s defense was not located.
The PF made a connection between the attacks on the electoral system carried out by Bolsonaro since the first year of government, in 2019, and the coup plot described in the final report of the investigation.
The police drew up a timeline to confirm that the former president was aware of the actions of the criminal organization that attempted a coup d’état in the country.
During the government, the attack on the electoral system — the same one through which Bolsonaro had been elected throughout his political life — was perpetrated, according to evidence gathered by the investigation, through the use of the (Brazilian Intelligence Agency), the Ministry of Defense and a nucleus called the “hate office”, in the Palácio do Planalto.
Thus, according to the PF, this narrative would not be interpreted as something casuistic and, after an eventual defeat in the following elections, it would legitimize “the acts that followed” Lula’s victory.
